1. Why Portland? What was it that drew you to Portland or has kept you here?

K: I've always loved Portland. When I first started visiting here about fifteen years ago I was drawn to all the quirky people. To me it's a short story writer's paradise for character studies. It took me quite a while to move here, but I was drawn to it's heart. The heart of the landscape and the people.

E: I live in Portland because it's close to all the wild places I love and it's also a gardener's paradise.

2. What are your favorite things happening in Portland (design or otherwise)?

We're in love with PMOMA, Missisippi Records and Sweedeedee. We're in love with people working hard to make their unique vision come alive and all of those magical places are great examples of that.

3. How did your brand start?

Our brand started over tea of course! The minute Elie and I sat down to discuss joining forces the ideas started coming on fast and furious and the response has been amazing. We are committed to good, clean design and magical effective medicines. It's a perfect union.

4. What has been your biggest obstacle?

We are landless! We are currently looking for a plot of land to garden and teach in. Please do let us know if you find one for us.

5. Design Icons:

Edith Head. Ruth Asawa. Japanese textiles. Nature. We'll just let you sit with that combo for a minute.

6. What are your favorite things about Portland?

The commitment to craft, amazing fresh food, and people all around us being fully committed to what they are passionate about.

7. What neighborhood describes your style the best?

We're a little bit of every neighborhood. You'll find us where the wild weeds grow.

8. Your favorite thing about your workspace?

The natural light! And the excitement about our work!

9. Tell us two truths and a lie!

We are bad liars -- sorry!

10. 5 things you can’t live without.

Beyonce. Gardening. Swimming holes. Exploring backroads and wildplaces. Love.
