Closet Visit: Meagan Geer and Meghan Wright

Two of the lovely ladies behind Mazama, Meagan Geer and Meghan Wright, invited us to Meghan’s lovely ranch style home in the Overlook neighborhood. As records played we talked about skin care products, our favorite lip colors and we got to raid Meghan’s pattern filled closet! And most importantly, we sipped french 77’s out of Mazama tumblers (market testing and research, someone has to do it!) It was great getting to hang with Meagan and Meghan outside of the dusty pottery studio and talk about the girly things in life. Check out the photos of our Saturday afternoon lady date, and read the interviews with Meagan and Meghan where they talk about their personal style, Portland and their favorite places to shop!

Selected questions were answered by co-founders, Meagan Geer (MG) and Meghan Wright (MW).

1. Who is your style influenced by?

MG: Meghan, Connie + Casey

MW: Iris Apfel, Tilda Swinton, David Bowie, and my Mazama girls of course!

2. Favorite place(s) to shop in Portland?

MG: Frances May, Lizard Lounge, Seams to Fit

MW: Buffalo Exchange (Hawthorne location only), Seams to Fit, Yo Vintage, Victory, Backtalk, and any other vintage store I stumble across.

3. Describe your style!

MG: French bohemian

MW: Pretty much my goal is to look like the episode of Absolutely Fabulous where the go to Morocco. I often fall short of this goal though.

4. What is your spring must have?

MG: Clogs

MW: Denim jumpsuits and/or Canadian Tuxedo. Rocking all denim really is the only thing thats practical in a ceramic studio and can kind of make a fashion statement.

5. 5 things you can’t live without?

MG: Cashmere, Silk, Wine, good socks, orange lipstick

MW: Black coffee, giant cozy scarves, a shitload of lipsticks to choose from, Kiehls face cream, Diptyque Tam Dao Perfume (it smells like a woodshop, in the best way)

6. 3 favorite items in your closet?

MG: All accessories... vintage black scarf from morocco with hammered metal flakes, ,  lila rice jewelry (anything she makes it essential!)

MW: Red Chanel Blazer (from Buffalo Exchange woot) And old Panama hat that has done a lot of traveling, and a huge silver bangle from my grandma

7. How do you choose what you wear in the morning?

MG: By how i feel. if i'm tied I want cozy cashmere. if i'm feeling upbeat, then its about bright colors and making new combinations with my clothes.

MW: If I am heading to work at Mazama, it's all about warmth, and practicality. Everything ends up with clay and glaze on it. I try and spice things up a little with some decent accessories and lipstick.

8. Tell us two truths and a lie!

MW: I have dyed my hair just about every color. I make a damn good Manhattan. I sing show tunes in the shower.

9. What is the best thing about your job?

MG: drinking with friends and playing dress up with Portland Supply Co.

MW: Bringing my dog Motley to work! She just sleeps by the kiln all day, but she's still fun to have around.

10. Any shopping advice you have?

MG: Never underestimate the satisfaction of an impulse buy!

MW: Quality over quantity! I would rather have 1 pair of Italian made boots than 10 pairs of made-in-China junk. Also, learn what colors look good on you, and just accept it.
